About Our Program

The International Baccalaureate Preparatory (IB Prep) Magnet Program is an advanced program of study designed to enhance the educational experience of students in the traditional curriculum areas while developing an appreciation for the human race, our planet’s health and social environment, and man’s effect upon our world. Students in the IB Prep Magnet may earn up to seven high school credits recognized throughout the state, prior to enrolling in high school. These credits can be earned in the areas of Algebra I, Geometry, Physical Science, Spanish I & II, French I & II, Chinese I & II, and Journalism I & II. Our program is designed to prepare students for the International Baccalaureate Program or any advanced placement/honors program at the high school level. Students who accept the challenge of becoming an IB Prep student must meet the minimum requirements of scoring at or above a level 4 on the FCAT, achieve higher than average grades, and exhibiting outstanding citizenship. Each IB Prep student is required to complete an application, which includes a writing sample, teacher recommendation form, documentation of grades and documentation of test scores. Students successfully completing the IB Prep program at Fairview are automatically granted admission to the Rickards’ High IB program, and are also prepared for other advanced AP curriculum across the district.
